My honor demands that I escort you, girl. But my honor also demands that I not take a woman's decision about her own fate away from her. Skies know there's enough of that in this blasted world.

Biography[]

An Ember In The Ashes[]

During the Moon Festival, Afya dances with Elias Veturius, who at the time was disguised as a Tribesman. She tells him that her brothers are rug-traders based in Nur and are in Serra to sell their wares before winter weather comes. Afya recognizes him, and gives him a wooden coin with a sun on one side and clouds on the other. The coin is a Tribal token, which mark a favorable owed and are not offered lightly. They are rarely given out by women. Afya tells Elias that if "the heir of Gens Veturia should ever need a favor, Tribe Nur would be honored to be of service."[2]

When Laia come to Spiro Teluman's forge, Afya is there. She is speaking with him, and then offers him a sack of coins. She gives Laia an appraising glance before leaving. Spiro then tells Laia who Afya is. He explains that her tribe carries weapons to the Marinn branch of the Scholars' Resistance. Darin had made most of the weapons she's taking.

A Torch Against The Night[]

Elias goes to Afya to use his favor token to get Afya to take him and his companions to Kauf Prison. At first she's reluctant in aiding a fugitive, but her honor prevents her from turning him down. When Elias abandons the others to head off to Kauf Prison on his own, Afya tries to keep her word and deliver Laia and Keenan safely, but they split up with Laia's insistence. Afya later meets up with Laia and helps her break Elias and the rest of the Scholar prisoners out of Kauf.
